MBBS is expensive — private-college totals can exceed Rs. 12–15M. Scholarships make the dream possible for many. Here are the seven streams worth applying to in 2026.
1. Ehsaas Undergraduate (HEC)
Need-based; covers tuition + Rs. 4,000/month stipend at HEC-recognised public universities. 67,000+ students benefited in 2024 (HEC Ehsaas portal). Apply via the HEC portal each September.
2. PEEF (Punjab Educational Endowment Fund)
Merit-cum-need; for Punjab-domicile students. ~3,500 awards/year, including MBBS. Tuition + monthly stipend. Application opens November.
3. AKU Need-Blind Admission
AKU's admission is need-blind — if you qualify, AKU meets 100% of demonstrated financial need. Roughly 60% of AKU MBBS students receive aid (AKU 2024).
4. College-Level Zakat / Welfare
KEMU, AIMC, Nishtar, KMC, and most public colleges run Zakat funds. Eligibility — family income under Rs. 45,000/month and Muslim domicile (provincial Zakat & Ushr ordinances).
5. USAID Merit-Need Scholarships
Operated via HEC; covers full tuition + living for selected high-merit need students. About 1,800 awarded in 2023–24 (USAID Pakistan).
6. Provincial Endowments
- Sindh Endowment Fund — for Sindh-domicile public-college students
- KP Ehsaas Programme — KPK regional support
- Balochistan Education Endowment — smaller pool, less competitive
7. Foreign Scholarships
Turkiye Burslari, Chinese Government Scholarship (MBBS not in 2024 list, check yearly), Saudi King Abdul Aziz Fellowship — primarily post-grad but a few MBBS slots.
- Need-Based Aid
- Awarded purely on financial need, regardless of merit threshold.
- Merit-Cum-Need
- Requires meeting both academic and income criteria.
- Tuition Waiver
- Waives fees but does not cover hostel/living costs.
Application Tips
- Keep CNIC, B-Form, domicile, and income certificate ready
