Last updated: June 2026 · Verified against the PMDC MDCAT 2026 notification. National test date: Sunday, 16 August 2026.
For 2026, PMDC raised the bar: you now need at least 65% in FSc Pre-Medical (HSSC) AND at least 80% in both 9th and 10th (SSC/Matric), plus a valid Pakistani CNIC or B-Form, IBCC equivalence for A-Level candidates, and a domicile of the province where you intend to claim seats. There is no age limit and no attempt limit.
- HSSC / FSc Pre-Medical floor
- 65% minimum (raised from 60% for 2026)
- SSC / Matric floor (new for 2026)
- 80% in both 9th and 10th class
- A-Level / O-Level route
- IBCC equivalence with PCB meeting the converted 65% threshold
- Age & attempts
- No age limit and no attempt limit (2026)
- Minors (under 18)
- Juvenile Registration Certificate (JRC) required — new for 2026

The rule applies uniformly to MBBS and BDS across PMDC-affiliated public and private colleges. Foreign-board students compete in a separate self-finance pool after IBCC verification.
1. The 65% FSc Rule — Explained
PMDC enforces this floor so only academically prepared candidates compete for medical seats (PMDC, 2025). If you scored under 65% in FSc Pre-Medical, you are not eligible — even with a perfect 180/180 in the MDCAT. The bar applies to your aggregate FSc result, not individual subjects.
For students with re-takes or supplementary papers, the IBCC-issued final transcript is what counts. If your aggregate is exactly 65.00%, you are eligible.
New for 2026: alongside the HSSC floor (raised from 60% to 65%), PMDC added an SSC (Matric) requirement of at least 80% in both 9th and 10th class. Candidates under 18 must also submit a Juvenile Registration Certificate (JRC) at registration.
2. A-Level & O-Level Equivalence
A-Level candidates must obtain an IBCC equivalence certificate before registering (IBCC, 2022). The formula converts AS/A2 grades into an FSc-equivalent percentage. Requirements:
- O-Level: at least 8 subjects, including Physics, Chemistry, Biology.
- A-Level: 3 subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) with grades that equate to ≥ 65%.
- Hafiz-e-Quran candidates may receive an additional 20 marks per IBCC rules.
3. Domicile & Provincial Quotas
Public-sector seats are reserved by domicile. You can apply only to colleges in the province where your domicile is registered. Sindh and Punjab residents may apply on reciprocal seats (1–2 per college). Foreign students compete in a separate self-finance pool.
4. Age & Attempt Limits
For MDCAT 2026, PMDC imposes no age limit and no limit on the number of attempts for the test itself. You can sit the MDCAT regardless of age, and repeaters may attempt it as many times as they need.
Individual institutions may still set their own admission-age rules — cadet and armed-forces programmes such as Army Medical College have historically applied their own age bands — so always confirm college-specific limits in the relevant admission prospectus.
5. Repeater Rules
Repeaters are fully eligible — there is no cap on the number of MDCAT attempts. However:
- Most provinces use your latest MDCAT score for merit.
- You cannot improve your FSc score after admission cycles begin.
- Re-registering requires fresh CNIC, photo, and challan.
For mindset and strategy, read our Repeater's Guide to MDCAT Success.
6. Foreign Board Students
Students who completed FSc abroad (Saudi Arabia, UAE, UK, USA) must:
- Submit transcripts to IBCC for equivalence.
- Provide a NOC from the Pakistan Embassy.
- Compete on either the local domicile pool (if eligible) or the foreign quota.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the eligibility criteria for MDCAT 2026?
For 2026 you need at least 65% in FSc Pre-Medical / HSSC (raised from 60%) and at least 80% in both 9th and 10th (SSC/Matric), plus a valid CNIC or B-Form and a domicile from the province where you will claim seats. A-Level / foreign-board students need an IBCC equivalence certificate, and candidates under 18 must submit a Juvenile Registration Certificate (JRC). There is no age limit and no attempt limit.
What is the minimum percentage required for MDCAT 2026?
PMDC requires at least 65% in FSc Pre-Medical / HSSC (up from 60% in previous years) and, new for 2026, at least 80% marks in both 9th and 10th class (SSC). A 64.9% FSc aggregate does not qualify — the threshold is firm.
Is there an age limit for MDCAT 2026?
No. For 2026 there is no age limit and no attempt limit for the MDCAT itself, so repeaters and older candidates can sit the test. Individual institutions (for example cadet or armed-forces medical programmes) may still apply their own admission-age rules, so check each college's prospectus.
Can repeaters appear in MDCAT 2026?
Yes. There is no cap on the number of MDCAT attempts. Most provinces use your latest MDCAT score for merit, and re-registration requires a fresh CNIC, photo and challan.
Are O-Level or A-Level students eligible for MDCAT 2026?
A complete A-Level (or FSc) is required — O-Level alone is not enough. A-Level and foreign-board students must obtain an IBCC equivalence certificate before applying.
Do private medical colleges have lower MDCAT eligibility?
No. PMDC enforces the same 65% FSc minimum for both public and private medical colleges.
What are the MDCAT requirements for 2026?
The MDCAT 2026 requirements are: at least 65% in FSc Pre-Medical / HSSC, at least 80% in both 9th and 10th (SSC/Matric), a valid Pakistani CNIC or B-Form, and a domicile of the province where you will claim seats. A-Level and foreign-board candidates also need an IBCC equivalence certificate, and applicants under 18 must submit a Juvenile Registration Certificate (JRC). There is no age limit and no attempt limit.
What is the age limit for MDCAT in Pakistan?
There is no age limit for the MDCAT in Pakistan for 2026 — PMDC sets no minimum or maximum age to sit the test, and no cap on attempts. However, some institutions (such as cadet or armed-forces medical colleges) apply their own admission-age bands, so check each college's prospectus separately.
Do I need a domicile to apply for MDCAT 2026?
Yes. Public-sector medical and dental seats are allocated by provincial domicile, so you can normally only apply to colleges in the province where your domicile is registered. Punjab and Sindh offer a small number of reciprocal seats, and foreign-board students compete in a separate self-finance pool after IBCC verification.
