NUMS vs. PMDC: Key Differences Explained

Many students apply for both NUMS (National University of Medical Sciences) and the general PMDC MDCAT. While the core subjects are the same, the exams have distinct flavors.

1. Difficulty Level

NUMS: Generally considered more conceptual and slightly tougher. It tests deep understanding and application of knowledge.
PMDC: Usually more textbook-centric. If you have memorized your provincial textbook lines, you are in a good spot.

2. Syllabus Variations

NUMS has its own specific syllabus which is often broader than the PMDC one. It may include topics that were removed continuously from PMDC MDCAT. Always check the official NUMS website for their specific topic list.

3. Psychological Test

NUMS entry test includes a specialized Psychological Assessment portion. While not graded for merit in the same way, it is a mandatory component for admission into Army Medical College.
