MDCAT 2026 introduces compulsory biometric (thumbprint) verification at every test centre, plus Juvenile Registration Card (JRC) verification for candidates under 18. Expect 20–30 minute centre-entry queues. Bring originals only — photocopies will be rejected at the gate.

  • New check at entry — NADRA-linked biometric thumbprint
  • For under-18 candidates — Juvenile Registration Card (JRC) issued by NADRA
  • Centre-entry queue — 20–30 minutes per candidate (PMDC estimate)
  • Reason — Impersonation incidents in 2024–2025 cycles (16 confirmed cases)

Following 16 confirmed impersonation incidents across the 2024 and 2025 MDCAT cycles, PMDC has introduced two new identity checks at every test centre. Both are non-negotiable and will be enforced at the gate.

What the New Check-In Looks Like

  1. Roll-number slip verification — same as previous cycles.
  2. Original CNIC (or JRC if under 18) physical verification.
  3. NADRA-linked biometric thumbprint — matched against the print on file with NADRA. Failure here is the most common new failure mode.
  4. Photograph re-capture at the centre for final identity record.
  5. Personal belongings deposit — mobile phones, smart watches, calculators, study materials.

PMDC estimates 20–30 minutes per candidate for the full process — meaning a candidate in the back third of the queue may take 90+ minutes to reach the seat. Arrive at least 2 hours before the stated test time.

What You Must Bring (Originals Only)

  • MDCAT 2026 roll number slip (printed, A4)
  • Original CNIC (no photocopies, no laminated copies)
  • If under 18: original Juvenile Registration Card (JRC) issued by NADRA
  • Two passport-size photographs (centre-day re-capture aside, still required)
  • Transparent water bottle (no labels)
  • Two HB pencils + a small sharpener + eraser

If You Are Under 18: The JRC Process

Candidates born after October 26, 2008 (i.e., under 18 on test day) must obtain a JRC from NADRA before their MDCAT roll number can be issued. The JRC process:

  • Apply at any NADRA Mega Centre with your parent/guardian and the parent's CNIC.
  • Processing time is 7–14 working days — do this in July, not August.
  • Cost: PKR 50 (normal) or PKR 500 (urgent).
  • JRC is valid until your 18th birthday; replaced by CNIC thereafter.

Common Biometric Failures — And the Fixes

  • Worn or wet thumbprint — the centre supervisor will allow up to 3 re-takes. If all fail, you must produce a NADRA biometric override certificate — request one from your nearest Mega Centre two days before the test.
  • NADRA record mismatch — if your CNIC was renewed recently, NADRA may not have synced the new biometric to PMDC's system. Bring a NADRA verification slip dated within the last 30 days.
  • Identity check delayed beyond test start — PMDC has confirmed that no candidate will lose paper time for queue delays — the centre will note your start time individually.

FAQ

Q: I had hand surgery and my thumbprint cannot be read. What do I do?

Apply to NADRA for a biometric exemption certificate (medical waiver). Bring the certificate and a doctor's attested note. Alternative biometric capture (other fingers or retina scan) is then used.

Q: Can I bring my own water and snacks?

Transparent water bottle only. No food, no labels.

Q: Are biometric records stored after the exam?

PMDC retains biometric verification logs for 5 years per the 2024 PMDC data-retention policy. The biometric template itself remains with NADRA.

Q: What if a centre cannot complete biometric verification due to system failure?

PMDC has stated that if the centre's system fails entirely, manual verification (CNIC + photograph + signature) is the fallback. The exam will not be delayed.

The new checks are slower but more honest — impersonation has hurt thousands of legitimate candidates over the years by inflating provincial merit cutoffs. Arrive early, bring originals, and pair this with our exam-day checklist.
